"Birth is sacred and transformative, and it is always an honor to be invited to such a personal and powerful space."

Deborah with granddaughter, Emilia

Licensed in Utah, California, Tennessee, and Virginia.

Deborah Abner, CPM

Deborah has been enthralled by pregnancy, birth, and babies for as long as she can remember. She is a mother of six (the last 4 of whom were born at home), and grandmother of six... and counting! Beginning in the 1990s, Deborah taught childbirth education classes and attended births in a supportive role whenever possible. In 2013, she became an assistant to a wonderful homebirth licensed midwife in Montana. When she returned to her native home in Virginia, she continued to work as a midwife assistant, this time with three certified nurse-midwives. In the time spent with these 4 incredibly skilled women, Deborah attended nearly 300 births, expanding her knowledge as well as the desire to pursue midwifery herself.  She attended midwifery college and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Midwifery, took the NARM exam (North American Registry of Midwives) to attain the Certified Professional Midwife credential, and finally, became licensed in the states of Utah, California, Tennesee, and Virginia. She sees midwifery as a divine calling and has a deep respect for the magnificence of the Creator’s design for pregnancy and childbirth.
